Napier, Hawke's Bay

Deco City Motor Lodge is perfectly situated to make it easy for our visitors to take in as much of our wonderful city and region as possible.

We are a couple of minutes from the centre of Napier – the Art Deco capital of the world. After much of the city was devastated in 1931 by an earthquake and the fires that followed, Napier rebuilt itself in the iconic style of the time, and continues to attract visitors from around the world who come to see the superb examples of Art Deco style and architecture. Napier comes alive most of all in February, when Art Deco celebrations have us all dolled up in period costumes, enjoying events which celebrate out Art Deco heritage.

Of course, there’s much more to Napier and Hawke’s Bay besides Art Deco. Napier is renowned for its great shopping, its fine restaurants and funky cafes, Pania of the Reef, contemporary art galleries, and the mighty Pacific that rolls onto the main beach.

We are very handy to the National Aquarium, which is a hit with young and old. You might like to pop over to Hastings and take the kids to Splash Planet – Hawke’s Bay’s fun water park, check out the views from Havelock North’s Te Mata Peak, The Gannet beach adventure tour, or drive a little further and discover ruggedly beautiful beaches, and the quaint towns of Central Hawke’s Bay.

Of course, no visit to Hawke’s Bay would be complete without a visit to winery or vineyard or two. There are plenty to choose from and we can recommend tour options and guides, or you can grab a map and go exploring!

Whatever you’re keen to do in Napier and Hawke’s Bay while you’re staying here, we’ll be able to give you advice and help you on your way. We have years of experience and piles of local knowledge that we’re delighted to pass on to our guests!
