Napier

Art Deco capital of the world, Napier, New Zealand

Napier has an amazing amount of things to see and do, and there are plenty of tour operators willing to help you discover the area. Some of the must-see attractions include:

Art Deco
Napier is the Art Deco Capital of the World - thanks to the 1931 earthquake that virtually destroyed most of Napier and Hastings. The cities were rebuilt in the popular styles of the time - Spanish Mission, Stripped Classical, and of course Art Deco!

Cape Kidnappers, Napier, New Zealand

Cape Kidnappers
Cape Kidnappers has one of the largest and most accessible mainland Gannet colonies in the world. Visited by thousands of people each year, particularly between early November and late February, the Cape itself is a geological marvel.

Wineries / Vineyards
Napier consistently produces a broad spectrum of award-winning wines. With twenty eight wineries in the region, all of them open to tourists for wine-tasting, and many with restaurants, Napier has become world-renowned for its wineries. The "Wine Trail" is a must for all visitors to the region.

National Aquarium of New Zealand
Napier's National Aquarium of New Zealand is as close to the ocean as you can be to the water’s edge without getting your feet wet and is within easy walking distance from the centre of the city. The magnificent architectural design imitates the form of a stingray, in a unique position on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. This aquarium has a wider range of species than any other similar facility in New Zealand.

The Peak is visited extensively by locals and tourists.
